Dignity + Aid
Type — Product Design
Role — Design / Manufacture / User Test
Location — Dublin, Ireland
Status — Completed, June 2016
Inspired by a volunteering trip to “The Jungle” in Calais, France in January of 2016, Dignity + Aid addresses the current mass migration taking place throughout Europe, highlighting the need for more privacy allowing a person to wash.
Privacy is of tremendous value to everyone and cannot be priced; yet for some it is almost non-existent. Using a Buy One, Give One system, this low cost pack aspires to return a small piece of privacy to someone who needs it, empowering them to wash when and where they like on the move. The discreet nature of the pack along with its universally understood icons means it could be used by anyone, anywhere in the world.
There are three variations of the pack for men, women and children. The contents include a collapsible 10 litre camping shower, two bars of soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, hand towel, hand sanitiser, small grooming kit, 4 disposable shavers (male pack only), sanitary napkins (female pack only) and 1 collapsible torch. The Buy One, Give One system is to encourage younger people to get involved in the current events and help make a difference where they can.
